India Tests Hydrogen-Powered Commuter Train

India successfully tested its prototype hydrogen-powered commuter train in Karnataka. The train uses imported German fuel cells, produces only steam — no emissions — and demonstrated reliable acceleration and energy recovery. Authorities plan to deploy hydrogen DMUs on suburban routes in Mumbai and Chennai within 3-4 years to cut diesel use and emissions from topically dense networks.
